New artwork nearly complete for A Common Thread

We're nearly there... The final touches are being done to the artwork by Fabric Lenny, and we're hopeful that it'll be installed sometime near the end of January.

Watch out for more info here in the coming weeks...

Spital Hill : A Common Thread :: photography nearing completion

We're entering the final stages of photography for the Spital Hill: A Common Thread project, and beginning to finalise the actual designs that will go up on the hoardings along Saville Street and elsewhere on Spital Hill. Here are the most recent set of portraits, taken yesterday. I'll post the next stage of the designs later in the week.

Spital Hill :: Traders

I've spent a good amount of the last couple of weeks photographing people who work or run businesses on Spital Hill - here are some of the pictures from the shoots, which Fabric Lenny is going to be working on over the next few weeks to produce the artwork for the hoardings on Saville Street.

Thanks to everyone who's been so helpful and willing to give their time so far - especial thanks to Janet and Mary at the library who have put up with a temporary studio being built in their community room, and lots of unpredictable comings and goings from me!

The businesses here include DWS, the Mangla, the East House, Ellesmere Post Office, MMXX and Emin Supermarket - thanks to all of them!

The First Ten Panels

Here are the first ten panels of approximately 24. It's starting to come together!

First draft designs

The panels for A Common Thread will run for over 100m along Saville Street in Sheffield, from the Wicker Arches to the new Tesco building.  They need to be vibrant and engaging, even if you're driving past on a bus or in the car, and we're working with a theme of 'A Common Thread' running through all the photographs and designs.

The first drafts of the panel designs are here - this will obviously develop throughout the process, but the themes will continue.

There's a bit more photography to be done in the next week, then on to the design phase.
